MOTHERS MYTHS MONSTERS
A singular curator grappling with an idea brings together a selection of trusted colleagues to craft short miniatures in overlapping, complementing, and sometimes contradicting genres.
With the Curating Artist as guide, each individual crafts a 10- to 15-minute new work on the theme(s) of the comforting and sometimes terrifying figure of the Mother; the complex Myths that shape our personal and collective identities; and the repulsive yet riveting Monster.
Mothers Myths Monsters provides artists with short rehearsals spread out over several weeks or months, meeting both individually and in groups. After spending time refining their work, audiences are invited to two presentations.

Being in conversation with collaborations with co-choreographer Maya Orchin, sound and video designer Sky White Tiger, and performer Tricia Dietrick, exploring identity, lineage, and embodied memory helped amplify the emotional and thematic layers of the piece and provided a helpful jumping off point for the further development of this work. “
