Fade is a durational improvisational piece working with sound, found objects, as well as textures of the body. The piece is about washing away the ties of the past and walking through the process of grief.

FIRST LOOK SERIES crafts moments for audiences to be in the room at the precipice of a production’s journey before all hell breaks loose. Artists get a feedback session and occasionally an invitation to connect deeper at Theaterlab.

MEET THE ARTISTS

YI-HAN (AUDREY) CHOU (creator, director)

Yi-Han (Audrey) Chou is a Dancer, Performer, Multimedia Artist working across time-based and embodied mediums. She holds a BFA in Fashion Design from Parsons School of Design with a minor in Contemporary Dance from Eugene Lang College at The New School, and an MPS from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP), with additional training in contemporary dance at NSCD, The Place London, B12 Berlin, and many others.
Her practice investigates the intersections of movement, identity, and sensory perception, drawing on cultural memory, ecological awareness, and temporal healing as conceptual anchors, as well as researching between conceptual formats of choreographic systems and methods through sound and imagery.
Her multidisciplinary research spans interactive design, experimental filmmaking, site-specific performance, sound design, real-time systems, and immersive production. Through cross-disciplinary frameworks, She explores themes of dysphoria, displacement, and sonic landscapes—centering embodied storytelling as a method of artistic inquiry.
As a performer, she has worked with Vicky Shick and Mariana Valencia during her time at The New School, as well as working as a freelancer in spaces of dance, media, and technology.

ALEXIS VINZONS (performer)

Alexis Vinzons is a Brooklyn-based freelance dance artist from Mamaroneck, NY. Her practice is grounded in improvisation—as both methodology and philosophy—and is driven by inquiry, presence, and embodied curiosity. She approaches contemporary dance as a research-based field that investigates the capabilities of the human body beyond codified form, using improvisation to explore precision, nuance, internal rhythm, and expression. Through this lens, Alexis investigates the unique physical logic of her body, the tempo of the human form, the multiplicity of texture, and dance as a medium for healing and transformation.
She is a facilitator of Emergent Improvisation, a practice developed by Troy Ogilvie and Omar Zubair, rooted in the teachings of adrienne maree brown’s Emergent Strategy, and held regularly at Gibney Dance Center and Peridance Center. Alexis performs with Yang Sun & Poets, TAQ Dance, and Emergent Improvisation, and recently has begun collaborating with live musicians, designers, and dancers to create immersive interdisciplinary work. She holds a B.A. from Cornell University, where she studied Information Science, Art History, and Dance.
