Meet the Artists:
Brenda Currin (Co-Artistic Director, Moonlake Productions) grew up in North Carolina. An OBIE Award winning actress, her career began as Nancy Clutter in In Cold Blood. She went on to play Pooh Percy in The World According to Garp with Robin Williams, and appeared in Taps, Reds, and the cult classic C.H.U.D., among others. Brenda worked in the New York theater scene, on and Off Broadway, for much of her adult life. She is acclaimed for her one-person show based on Eudora Welty’s stories, “Sister and Miss Lexie” which she premiered in New York and toured all over, U.S. & Europe. Brenda co-founded What Girls Know, a theater program for the healthy development of adolescent girls, which she directed in NYC and other parts of the country, eventually finding its home in New Orleans. Brenda’s recent film/TV appearances include Gossamer Folds, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, Out of Blue, Claws and the recently released Daughter of the Bride.
Irene Glezos (Georgie) is delighted to be reprising the role of Georgie at Theaterlab where she also recently played Katherine in a workshop production of Terrence McNally’s A Perfect Ganesh opposite Brenda Currin. She has played Lady in Tennessee Williams’ Orpheus Descending in NYC in a production directed by Austin Pendleton, as well as in Provincetown, a 4 city tour of Mississippi and in New Orleans (directed by Jef Hall-Flavin for which she was nominated Best Actress by the Big Easy Entertainment Awards). Other favorite New York and regional credits include: Maria Callas in Terrence McNally’s Master Class at MTC in Westport (dir. Kevin Connors, for which she was nominated Outstanding Leading Actress by the Connecticut Critics Circle), Serafina in The Rose Tattoo for the Tennessee Williams Theater Festival, Fairouz in Naomi Wallace’s In the Heart of America (at the Long Wharf directed by Tony Kushner), Gertrude Eastman Cuevas in In the Summerhouse (directed by David Kaplan) and Joyce/Isabella Bird in Top Girls Off-Broadway. She has appeared in numerous films including a lead in the psychothriller Delusional opposite Leon Pinkneye and Anais Almonte, in Woody Allen’s Celebrity, and on television series including And Just Like That, The Blacklist, various Law and Orders, Sex and the City and Criminal Intent. www.ireneglezos.com
Albert Insinnia (Alex) is delighted to revive his role in Heisenberg at TheaterLab with Irene Glezos. Directed by Austin Pendleton. He appeared in the original Delacorte and Broadway productions of Joseph Papp’s Tony Award-winning Two Gentlemen of Verona. He played Sonny in the original Broadway production of Grease, co-starred as Mordred with Richard Harris in the Broadway revival of Camelot and co-starred in Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris with the Village Gate cast. On television he is the recurring character Lt. Pizelli on Law & Order SVU and has made guest appearances on many shows, including The Mysteries of Laura and M*A*S*H*. He co-starred on The Stockard Channing Show on NBC and starred in the series Last Chance on CBS. Albert has co-starred in numerous films. Off-Broadway roles include the title role in Lenny, and lead roles in Trolls, Blues for Mr. Charlie, Elia Kazan in The UnAmerican and a recent adaptation of Chekhov’s The Seagull, directed by Austin Pendleton. Albert is co-founder of The Acting Lab and continues to teach and coach actors. Austin Pendleton (Director) Austin Pendleton is an actor, a director, a playwright, and, at HB Studio in New York City, a teacher of acting. He has acted and directed on and off-Broadway, as well as off-off-Broadway, and in regional theaters, notably the Williamstown Theatre Festival (where he also apprenticed, under the guidance of Nikos Psahcaropoulos, for many years the Artistic Director of the Festival), Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre (where he has been a member of the Ensemble since 1986), and the Long Wharf Theatre (under the leadership of Arvin Brown). He recently appeared on Broadway in Tracy Letts’ The Minutes. Also on Broadway, among other appearances, he originated the role of Motel the Tailor in Fiddler on the Roof, and later appeared opposite Natalie Portman and Linda Lavin in The Diary of Anne Frank, as well as in the role of Mr. Pendleton in Choir Boy in 2019. As a director, he was nominated for a Tony for directing The Little Foxes, starring Elizabeth Taylor and Maureen Stapleton and directed the recent Broadway production of Stephen Adly Guirgis’ Between Riverside and Crazy. As a playwright, his plays include Orson’s Shadow, Uncle Bob, and Booth, all produced in New York, around the country, and in Europe, and all published.
Simon Stephens (Playwright) is a contemporary English playwright, whose recent works include The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time (2013 Olivier Award Best New Play, 2015 Tony Award Best Play), Heisenberg (2015 Off-Broadway), numerous adaptations of shows like the National Theatre’s 2016 The Threepenny Opera, Chekov’s The Seagull (2017) and The Cherry Orchard (2014), plus On the Shore of the Wide World (2006 Olivier Award Best New Play). Stephens ran the Young Writers’ Program at the Royal Court Theatre in London, premiering several shows there including Motortown (2006), Country Music (2004), Herons (2001), and Bluebird (1998). Currently Stephens is an Artistic Associate at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre in London, where his adaptation of The Seagull played in 2017.
My Le (Technical Director/Stage Manager) is an international theater artist from Vietnam. In 2019, My Le was on the directing track at NYU Tisch Drama where she worked on multiple projects as a director, stage manager, lighting and sound designer. During her gap year back home, My was working for the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet as Assistant Director/ Stage Manager for their production of Les Miserables. She also wrote and produced multiple short films. She joined Hunter Theater Department fall 2021 and contributed as one of the artist for Colab 3.0 and directed a student production of Ablaze. In 2022, she had her official directing debut in Vietnam with Alice in Wonderland the Musical and became one of the youngest directors to debut in The Hanoi Opera House. In 2023, she worked as the assistant director for Crystal Field at Theater for the New City for the Summer Street Theatre. She also joined Krymov Lab NYC’s production team for their Fall 2023 production of Big Trip 2 at La MaMa. My Le is currently working as a Technical intern for Theaterlab where she focus on lighting design.
