The Inflatable Salon | February 14th, 2016

Theaterlab presents
THE INFLATABLE SALON
Featuring Nicole Renaud + Yuri Lemeshev
Valentine’s Day concert
February 14, 2016 at 5pm

The Inflatable Salon is an ephemeral traveling salon. Whether in a loft, a private house, or a garden, inflatable chairs and sofas are blown up for the event, creating comfort and intimacy that is conducive to good listening and pleasant socializing.

The Inflatable Salon’s first event–a Valentine’s Day concert–featured Renaud (Couleurs; composer, Bill Plympton films) singing new songs of her own composition, followed by Russian accordionist virtuoso Yuri Lemeshev, best known as an ex-member of Gypsy punk rock band, Gogol Bordello. Lemeshev played his most beloved music that spans compositions by Alfred Schnittke and Giya Kancheli to Bollywood songs.

This was a reunion concert on many fronts. Renaud and Lemeshev performed together 15 years ago at the Chelsea cabaret Ciel Rouge, East Village French restaurant Jules and in Japan. Renaud developed her multimedia song cycle about love, Couleurs, at Theaterlab before touring the world with the show. Now, she returns with her latest invention.
