Curator Raven Taisce White (BIRDHOUSE: Hot Winter, i see the sun on your back – Theaterlab Gallery 2018) brings together a collection of artists presenting a variety of Mothers Myths Monsters miniatures.
“Mothers. Myths. Monsters. Three loaded words, three fraught histories, and three archetypes that encompass perhaps the entirety of the human experience. How can one begin to address such inapproachables?
Four women artists of different media, Ogemdi Ude, Louisa Willis, Glenna Yu, and Bryn Hlava, joined me early this year to approach the impossible. Not to be intimidated, we found that our entrance into these words most often comes from their existence within ourselves. We dove into a process of world-myth creation without hesitation.
We have made series of independent yet overlapping mythical and monster worlds held within the womb of a gentle mother. How these worlds collide, join, and fall apart, is up to the audience to decide.” – Raven Taisce White
