The acclaimed composer/pianist/radio host Jed Distler makes a rare solo piano appearance, offering welcome respite from New York City’s usual pre-holiday bustle.

 

Proceeds benefit TheaterLab, an artistic laboratory dedicated to research into the nature of live performance, who supports New York City’s diverse community of artists as well as the general public interested in seeing emerging new work.

JED DISTLER  is a pianist, composer, and ASCAP award-winning creator and host of WWFM’s Between the Keys, as well as one of the most widely read and regarded reviewers of classical piano recordings, regularly contributing to Gramophone and Classicstoday.com. Called “the Downtown Keyboard Magus” by the New Yorker, and “a witty, genial and adventurous pianist and composer” in The New York Times, Distler has premiered works by Frederic Rzewski, Alvin Curran, Lois V. Vierk, Simeon ten Holt, Richard Rodney Bennett, Virgil Thomson, and Virko Baley, among many others. His recent solo piano releases include Fearless Monk (TNC Music) and Quiet Now (Steinway & Sons). Most importantly, Distler turned down the position of Piano Department Chairman at Trump University.
