At Theaterlab, audiences get early access to some of the world’s most exciting living artists. Truth be told, if audiences see your production here – they’re tying themselves to history in the making.
Interested in producing at Theaterlab? We’ve now expanded our programming to include more options than ever. FIRST LOOK SERIES and ATELIER @ THEATERLAB are for works, artists, and companies in early stages, while TLAB SHARES remains the icon she is – providing affordable off-off-broadway rates for 3 to 4 week production runs, including Equity Showcases.Â

Emerging artists need a place to play. With low-tech and low-stakes, Theaterlab has created a new space just for that reason. 


ATELIER @ THEATERLAB productions push the imagination beyond traditional theater practices and allow for flexibility in creative endeavors.
This curated rental program is dedicated to supporting emerging companies experimenting with theatrical forms and pre-premiere productions of works in development.
Only the most creative work need apply.        Â
TLAB SHARES
The floors and walls are white, the light bounces, and nothing is hidden from the audience. NYC’s most daring and caring directors see our space as an artistic home that enhances their work.
TLAB SHARES is a curated rental season highlighting NYC’s most exciting independent producers, directors, and companies presenting full-length works in our Theater and Gallery spaces.
If you have a proven history of artistically ambitious productions, and a vision for utilizing our white box in a way that supports and elevates the work, submit now and we will consider your application.
FIRST LOOK SERIES
A dedicated track for emerging artists and companies who are willing to jump head-first into a fast and furious process of getting their new work on its feet and in front of an audience.Â
FIRST LOOK SERIES crafts moments for audiences to be in the room at the precipice of a production’s journey before all hell breaks loose. Artists get a feedback session and occasionally an invitation to connect deeper at Theaterlab.
It’s risky business to put all your cards on the table for the first time – but for TWENTY YEARS, Theaterlab has been building an intimate and supportive environment for moments just like these.Â

NOTE: In 2024, we were proud to offer a subsidized rehearsal rate of $10/hr, made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature. This rate was not renewed for 2025 and is not currently available. If the grant is awarded for 2026, the rate and booking process will be made available publicly.
