WE’VE GOT SPIRIT

In 2004 rural Tennessee, the employees of a Spirit Halloween store welcome new member Damien, a conservative young male whose family previously owned the building when it was a church. When a member of the team becomes the center of a hate crime, they barricade themselves in the store. We’ve Got Spirit explores the fears of southern LGBTQ+ communities and the instilled paranoia surrounding the end of days.

MEET THE TEAM
TYLER CHRISTIE (Director)
Tyler Christie (he/him) is a New Hampshire-grown/Brooklyn-based director of plays and musicals. His work includes collaborations with EST/Youngblood, New Dramatists, The Lark, Page 73, The New Group, Rattlestick, Working Theater, Theater Accident, The Tank, The PIT, Arts on Site and Victory Gardens. Selected directing credits include Dirt, Witch, Is Edward Snowden Single?, Gruesome Playground Injuries, Fully Committed, Perfect Arrangement, Baskerville and dark play. Tyler currently serves as the Playwrights’ Lab Associate Director at New Dramatists and is a graduate of Columbia College Chicago.
JERICO BLEU (Playwright)
Jerico Bleu is an actor/playwright originally from East Tennessee. As a young boy he found solace in the soft glow of his television set. To combat loneliness and his budding sexuality he dove into the imaginary worlds of Nickelodeon cartoons, and classic 80s cinema. These developmental years would set the tone for how he tells stories. His work centers around the struggle of the homosexual experience with accents of nostalgic pop culture. His written work has been seen at MPAACT, Vivid Stage, American Blues Theatre, City Theatre Miami, and Greenbrier Valley Theatre. Recently, his sci-fi short Electric Skin was featured at the William Inge Theater Festival, and the audio fiction anthology series Gather by the Ghost Light. Next, Jerico’s piece Imaginary Species will be workshopped with Tennessee Stage Company. @jericobleu Jericobleu.com
SAM GIVEN (Damien)
Sam Given: Broadway: The Inheritance. Off-Broadway: The Boys From Syracuse (Theatre Row), Daddy Issues (St. Clements), Born Blue (The Cutting Room), Zombies: The Musical (Peter J. Sharp Theater). Other favorite credits include Rent (Hollywood Bowl), Emcee in Cabaret (Ivoryton Playhouse), The Legend of Georgia McBride (Florida Rep), and traveling the country as Ziggy Stardust in Rebel Rebel: The Many Lives of David Bowie. Sam recently appeared in Out/Play’s The Homosexuals, Asim Ali Naqvi’s Neon in the Coming Scenes, and Frigid Fringe’s Unsex’d. @samgivensing

Mars Wardell (they/them) is NYC theatre artist with a BA in Theatre from The George Washington University. They particularly love working with new plays and centering queer & trans stories on stage! LONDON SHANNON (Rochelle)
Londen Shannon ‘s theatre credits include: KILL MOVE PARADISE (Timeline), SUGAR IN OUR WOUNDS (First Floor Theatre) and KILLING GAME (A Red Orchid Theatre). He is a graduate of Loyola University Chicago and The School at Steppenwolf. Film credits include: Orders (2017), Oh Great, Riley’s Depressed Again, and Star Vehicle. ANGELA LANZA (Gail)
Angela Lanza is a New York–based actress whose work spans theater, film, and television. She most recently appeared as Carmen in Real Women Have Curves at the Alley Theatre. Other notable and favorite stage credits include the world premiere of A.R. Gurney’s Overtime at The Old Globe, Falcon Girls (orig. cast) at Yale Repertory Theatre, and The Man That Could See Through Time opposite Richard Dreyfuss at the Coronet. On screen, Angela’s film credits include Fools Rush In with Matthew Perry and Salma Hayek, The Perez Family with Marisa Tomei, Desperado, Spy Kids and numerous independent features, including Cold Dark Hollow, for which she received two Best Actress awards. Her television credits include Orange Is the New Black, Law & Order, and The Hoop Life. She is deeply grateful to her familia and the extraordinary friends who have championed her throughout her career–you know who you are!
