Voices Inside is an inspirational writing and theater program at Northpoint Training Center, a medium security prison near Danville, KY that uses theater arts and creative thinking to increase communication skills, build self-esteem and humanize and enrich the lives of those closed off behind bars.
It was founded by filmmaker Robby Henson, playwright Elizabeth Orndorff and Shakespeare Behind Bars founder Curt Tofteland.
Theaterlab has supported the program since 2011, presenting readings of the short plays by incarcerated writers in New York City. This reading series encourages the men in the program to continue to write and strive to improve their work.
